Foreign Ministry: No Kyrgyzstanis among victims of terrorist attack in Istanbul

There are no citizens of Kyrgyzstan among the killed and injured as a result of an explosion that took place on Sunday in Istanbul. Press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The explosion occurred on Sunday on Istiklal Street in Beyoglu district of Istanbul. According to authorities of Turkey, six people were killed and more than 50 were injured.

«The Consulate General in Istanbul reported that there were no citizens of Kyrgyzstan among the killed and injured. In connection with the incident, the diplomats are in touch with the Turkish authorities. Law enforcement officials say the number of killed and injured is increasing. Investigation is ongoing,» the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kyrgyzstan noted.

The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Sunday’s attack in the center of Istanbul and said that the explosion near Taksim Square killed six people and injured dozens. According to the latest data, 81 people were injured.

The attacker was a woman who detonated the bomb.
