World Sambo Championship to be held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time
For the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan, the World Sambo Championship will be held in Bishkek from November 11 to November 13. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, Kanat Shabdanbaev, announced at a press conference in the capital.
«To date, 420 athletes from 55 countries have applied for participation. The state allocated about 4 million soms for the championship. The upcoming championship will be held at the highest level, it will become a real holiday for athletes,» he said.
According to the Deputy Minister, members of the national team of Kyrgyzstan are at training camps in Cholpon-Ata.
The head of the office of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), Alexander Korsik, who was present at the press conference, noted the high level of the Sambo Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic and its athletes.
«We are very happy and pleased to be in Bishkek in preparation for the World Championship. This is the most important event of the year. The decision to hold it in your country was made due to the fact that the Sambo Federation of Kyrgyzstan has shown a high level in preparing and holding tournaments in recent years. Your athletes take the lead today,» he stressed.
