Snap presidential elections should be held in Kyrgyzstan, activist believes
Ex-deputy of Parliament, head of the Association for Protection of Voters’ Rights Bakyt Kerimbekov said at a press conference at 24.kg news agency that early elections should be held in Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, Sadyr Japarov, when he was elected to the post of head of state, took an oath on the Constitution of 2010-2016.
«But the powers of the president have been changed in the new Basic Law. Therefore, in order to confirm them, it is necessary to hold snap elections. Only in this case he will become legitimate,» said Bakyt Kerimbekov.
He added that the Parliament should consider the issue of holding snap elections. He told that he had sent a corresponding letter to the speaker and faction leaders, however, he did not receive an answer.
