29 convicts die in prisons of Kyrgyzstan for nine months of 2022
At least 29 convicts died in prisons of Kyrgyzstan for nine months. Kemel Sadykov, Deputy Chairman of the Penitentiary Service, announced at a meeting of the Committee of the Parliament on Law and Order, Combating Crime and Corruption.
According to him, three convicts were killed, one died as a result of harm to health.
«The rest died of a disease. Last year, 34 deaths were recorded,» the official said.
He noted that 349 people sentenced to life in prison are serving sentences in places of detention.
Kemel Sadykov also told about the financing of food for convicts. «About 103 soms are allocated for the food per each convict. In 2020, 74 soms were allocated, in 2021 — 84 soms. In educational institutions, 138 soms are allocated for food per person, and 164 soms — in hospitals,» he added.
