Putin declares martial law in annexed territories
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced introduction of martial law in the annexed territories of the Russian Federation. RIA Novosti reports.
According to the signed document, martial law was declared in the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, which previously belonged to Ukraine.
«Let me remind you that martial law was in effect in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Luhansk People’s Republic, as well as in Kherson and Zaporozhye regions before they joined Russia. And now we need to formalize this regime already within the framework of the Russian legislation. Therefore, I signed a decree on the introduction of martial law in these four subjects of the Russian Federation. It will immediately be sent for approval to the Federation Council,» Vladimir Putin said.
Russia annexed four regions of Ukraine on September 30.
