Akylbek Japarov predicts harsh winter, urges to stock up on coal and firewood
Kyrgyzstan is in for a harsh winter. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, said at a parliamentary meeting.
According to him, 1,000 cubic meters of gas cost $5,000 in Europe, and the price of coal is also growing.
«Therefore, we cannot promise that there will be no price increase. We expect that there will be a reduction in the price of fuel and lubricants, because Russia is facing tough sanctions from December 1. European countries do not want to buy Russian fuels and lubricants. If this is the case, then taking into account the decrease in the number of countries where fuel and lubricants can be sold, they can reduce the cost. We want to buy 1,200 million tons of fuel and lubricants. If prices really go down, then, perhaps, other products will go down as well. But I want to tell the people that the Kyrgyz have a custom — to purchase everything in reserve. Therefore, people should stock up on coal and firewood. Perhaps, spring will come late, we should all be ready for it. It will be difficult. Now no one knows how the situation in Europe will develop. Tactical weapons could also be used. If so, then the number of refugees will increase. We are happy with the guests, of course, but if there is an escalation, we are ready to close the borders. We can provide our population with food for three months. However, we also have to live on, so we must prepare our people for difficult times,» the official said.
