Asphalt laying work continues on two sections of North - South road
Active work is underway to lay asphalt concrete pavement on Balykchy — Kochkor and Kochkor — Epkin sections of the alternative North — South road. The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported.
To date, about 42 kilometers of new asphalt concrete pavement have been laid. It is planned to continue work until the end of the construction season in 2022. The contract for construction work on Balykchy -Kochkor and Kochkor — Epkin sections was signed in 2020 with the contracting company Sinohydro (PRC).
«The contractor mobilized more than 100 units of road construction equipment to the site. At the peak of the construction season, about 300 people will be involved. There are also two asphalt concrete plants with a capacity of 160 tons per hour each. Completion of all construction work is planned for 2023 with a subsequent warranty period until 2026. After the completion of construction work, Kyrgyzstan will get 70 kilometers of a new two-lane highway, which will provide an opportunity for comfortable movement of the population of this region,» the Ministry of Transport stressed.
