Sadyr Japarov meets with UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov received the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic Antje Grawe. Press service of the head of state reported.
Antje Grawe presented her credentials to the President. Sadyr Japarov congratulated her on her appointment and thanked the UN system in Kyrgyzstan for the assistance provided to the country since independence. He noted the high level of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UN agencies, told about the institutional reforms being carried out in the country.
The President stressed that Kyrgyzstan adhered to and is ready to continue to be committed to the observance of the generally recognized goals and principles enshrined in the UN Charter.
In turn, Antje Grawe congratulated Kyrgyzstan on the 30th anniversary of its membership in the UN and stressed that this creates a unique opportunity to further deepen and expand cooperation. In addition, she highly appreciated the initiatives of Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the resolution adopted at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on declaring 2022 the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, and in Kyrgyzstan the Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience, and the national Zhashyl Muras tree planting campaign.
Antje Grawe confirmed the support of the UN in promoting reforms and programs for the social and economic development of the country under the leadership of Sadyr Japarov.
During the meeting, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan expressed condolences to the head of state in connection with the casualties as a result of the conflict at the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border and confirmed the readiness of the UN system to continue providing the necessary and urgent assistance to the affected districts of Batken region.
