Akylbek Japarov discusses prospects for cooperation with World Bank delegation
Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, met with the World Bank delegation headed by the Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde. Press service of the Cabinet reported.
The official noted the priority areas of the government’s activities and said that in 2022, as a result of the implementation of the country’s development program, the process of restoring economic activity is taking place. A positive trend of economic growth at the level of 8 percent is observed in January-August.
According to Akylbek Japarov, the efficiency of tax administration has increased. This happened, among other things, through the use of digital technologies and thanks to efforts to improve tax administration. At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers pays serious attention to the issue of supporting the private sector and plans to allocate financing through four development banking institutions.
One of the priority tasks is the comprehensive economic development of the country’s regions, especially Batken region.
Participants of the meeting discussed development of a five-year framework partnership program between the World Bank Group and Kyrgyzstan, as well as other issues of bilateral cooperation.
Anna Bjerde expressed her readiness for further development and strengthening of interaction and noted the importance of a qualitative study of the partnership program.
Akylbek Japarov noted that the document should focus on such areas of cooperation as agro-industrial complex, tourism, support for the private sector, transport and energy, including renewable energy projects.
«At the same time, I would like to see digitalization, green economy, human capital development, healthcare and education as cross-cutting goals in the framework of cooperation with the World Bank,» he said.
