Girl sentenced to year in prison for negative post about Kyrgyz on Twitter
The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek delivered a guilty verdict against a user of Twitter social media platform. Ruling of the court says.
It is specified that the girl published a post on Twitter on April 9: «But whether these were not the Russians who helped you on in life? You would continue to live in yurts... the Russians built cities here, and you are yelping like the mutts from under the gates... Russia will say tomorrow: «You have a week to pay off all your debts.» China will give two weeks... and the two powers will divide Kyrgyzstan. Live with it.»
The post caused dissatisfaction of other social media users, which creates certain conditions for the formation of interethnic and interregional hostility. Thus, the girl, by her criminal actions, humiliated the inhabitants of Kyrgyzstan on a national basis, publicly propagating the exclusivity and superiority of other nations.
From the court verdict
«According to the conclusion of the forensic expert, the text of the post is negative and offensive in relation to a certain ethnic group. It caused a negative reaction from citizens, as evidenced by the comments submitted to the study. The publication contains linguistic signs of opposition of a certain ethnic group (Russians) to another ethnic group (Kyrgyz). Moreover, there are lexemes expressing humiliation and hatred towards the Kyrgyz ethnic group,» the court decision states.
As a result, the girl was sentenced to a year behind bars to be served in a prison colony with a strict regime. The girl was found guilty under the article «Inciting racial, ethnic, national, religious inter-regional hatred (discord)» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
