Over 123,000 evacuated residents of Batken return home
At least 123,345 out of 136,770 evacuated residents of Batken region returned home. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
In recent days, 1,645 citizens evacuated to Bishkek also returned to Batken region by minibuses organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Temporary housing was organized for those who were left without housing — 64 rooms in 8 institutions and 218 houses of local residents.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that out of 630 houses destroyed as a result of the armed clashes, 425 are no longer suitable for living, and 205 are in need of repair. Eleven administrative and strategic facilities, 28 social facilities (12 schools, 12 kindergartens, 4 medical and obstetric centres), 336 store rooms, 197 utility facilities, a bridge, 61 cars have been also destroyed.
Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 198 victims, 62 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
