Deputy Mayor of Bishkek Baktybek Abdiev was detained on suspicion of corruption. Own sources in law enforcement agencies informed 24.kg news agency.
The arrest took place on September 27. Due to illness, the court placed the official under house arrest.
Baktybek Abdiev was appointed the Deputy Mayor of the capital in March. Previously, he was the Director of Avangard Project construction and design company. He also headed the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Communal Services and Bishkekglavarchitectura. As head of state, Sooronbai Jeenbekov criticized his work and offered to resign.
In 2019, Baktybek Abdiev, as head of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Communal Services, was also criticized by the then Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev for poor work. In February 2019, after a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the director of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Communal Services was reprimanded.
