Border conflicts: Batken residents leave homes four times for one year
Women forcedly resettled from Batken region to Osh are ready to return home, the only request is to protect them from attacks and provocations by the Tajik military. Press service of the Ombudsman’s Institute reported.
Ombudsperson Atyr Abdrakhmatova and a number of employees of the office conducted a survey of women who were forced to flee from Batken region and were accommodated in dormitories No. 1 and No. 3 of the Osh State University.
The survey involved women from 44 families who previously lived in Samarkandek, Min-Bulak, Kok-Zhar, Kyzyl-Bel villages of Batken region and Batken city.
All respondents noted that they had to flee for the fourth time over the past year.
The following requests have been received from women:
- To solve border problem;
- To strengthen security of villages located near the border;
- To provide access to social benefits, especially ui bulogo komok;
- To ensure targeted and timely humanitarian assistance to the population;
- To speed up the issue of children’s access to education;
- To accelerate the restoration of houses destroyed by the Tajik military;
- To increase the number of psychologists for women and children from the affected villages.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
