The Government of Kyrgyzstan will allocate 210 million soms from the budget for restoration of Batken region. Deputy Dastan Bekeshev announced.

The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers was supported on Monday at a meeting of the Committee on Budget, Economic and Fiscal Policy of the Parliament. In addition, 57 million soms are provided for the maintenance of cultural institutions in Batken region. Previously, libraries and clubs in the region were supported at the expense of the local budget.

«Another 31.6 million soms will be allocated to maintain Tunduk system and 19.5 million soms — for celebration of the 110^th anniversary of the writer Tugolbai Sydykbekov. The money was allocated for a monument (12 million soms) and publication of a 15-volume work in 500 copies (7.5 million soms). Culture must be maintained, but the costs are untimely. It could have been postponed for a couple of months,» Dastan Bekeshev said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance reported that 497,600 million soms were allocated in connection with the events that took place in Batken region. The amount is aimed at relocation of citizens to a safe place, provision with food, medicines and medical equipment.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 183 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
