SCNS Head about conflict: We cannot guarantee that it will not happen again
Situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is tense. The Deputy Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), Kamchybek Tashiev, told reporters about this.
«There is tension on the border. Bearded people in civilian clothes have not disappeared. They have weapons in their hands. Perhaps, they are preparing for something. We are taking certain measures. We will not allow anyone to approach our state border even one meter. We will provide security. The Presidential Envoy to Batken region, heads of districts and representatives of regional law enforcement agencies are negotiating, the conflict has been stopped. However, we cannot guarantee that it will not happen again,» Kamchybek Tashiev said.
Three shootouts occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on Wednesday. The border guards of Kyrgyzstan discovered a border detachment of Tajikistan in Bulak-Bashi area of Batken region. The military personnel of the neighboring country took up combat positions on a disputed section of the state border. The demands of the Kyrgyz border guards to leave the territory were ignored. Tajik border guards opened fire. In response, the servicemen of the Kyrgyz Republic also used weapons. Another shootout occurred in Pasky-Aryk area. The condition of one of the victims is extremely grave.
