Issue of bank cards to persons from age of 16 considered in Kyrgyzstan
Possibility of distributing bank cards among persons over 16 years old is being considered in Kyrgyzstan. The National Bank of the country announced.
Representatives of the National Bank, commercial banks and the Ministry of Digital Development discussed the issues of providing trade and service enterprises with POS terminals with the function of cash registers and mandatory use of two-dimensional barcode symbols (QR codes).
«As part of increasing the share of non-cash payments, settlements and improving financial literacy, the issues of distributing bank payment cards among persons over 16 years old were considered,» the statement says.
As of July 1, 2022, the total number of bank payment cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 4,313.6 million. It increased by 23.1 percent compared to 2021.
