City Court remands Yrys Zhekshenaliev in custody
The Bishkek City Court considered the complaint of the lawyers of an activist Yrys Zhekshenaliev against a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
Lawyers asked to place him under house arrest. The state prosecutors petitioned to remand Yrys Zhekshenaliev in custody until the end of the investigation period.
Leaving the deliberation room, the judicial board of the Bishkek City Court read out the ruling, according to which the decision of the first instance was upheld.
Thus, Yrys Zhekshenaliev will be in custody until the end of the investigation period.
Yrys Zhekshenaliev, the administrator of Political Prisoner Facebook page, is charged with calls for active disobedience to the lawful demands of government officials and riots. He was taken to the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and then detained and placed in the remand center 1 in Bishkek.
