Rector of Talas State University detained for corruption
Rector of Talas State University was detained for corruption. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
A corruption scheme for misappropriation of budgetary funds was reportedly revealed at the university.
It has been found out that the rector of the Talas State University and the chief accountant from 2021 to 2022 awarded bonuses to university employees in the amount of 7,000 soms with the condition of returning 6,000 soms from each to the management of the university.
The rector and the accountant, in collusion with private entrepreneurs, formally held a tender for the purchase of building materials for the repair of the university’s academic buildings, followed by appropriation of a certain part of the money by cashing.
As a result, the rector of the university was placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
