EAEU to allow duty-free import of goods for personal use worth up to €1,000
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will not levy duties on the import of goods for personal use worth up to €1,000 and weighing up to 31 kilograms until October 1, 2022. Press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reported.
According to the amendments made to the Customs Code, this measure will apply to goods carried on foot and imported by all means of transport, except for air one.
If the value of goods in personal import exceeds the specified amount, then the duty will be 30 percent of its price and not less than €4 per 1 kilogram.
If the goods are ordered through a delivery service and the parcel is more expensive or heavier than the norms, then the duty will be 15 percent of the order value and not less than €2 per 1 kilogram.
A new institution is also being introduced into the process — an electronic commerce operator. It will deal with filling out customs documents instead of buyers. It will be possible to place goods in its warehouses in advance, which will reduce delivery time.
The procedure for introducing these measures has been underway in the EEC since March 2022.
