Digital Development Ministry negotiates on blocking of social media content
Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Zhamankulov told 24.kg news agency how the law on Protection from Inaccurate (False) Information will work in Kyrgyzstan.
The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Digital Development are responsible for enforcement of the law. Statements from citizens about fakes are accepted by the Ministry of Culture. After studying, it sends them to the Ministry of Digital Development.
«The information is blocked by the Ministry of Digital Development. So far, this is possible only through local resources. It is not possible through external ones, such as Facebook or Instagram. The Ministry of Digital Development is negotiating with them in order to develop legal mechanisms,» Azamat Zhamankulov said.
The President Sadyr Japarov signed the law on Protection from Inaccurate (False) Information initiated by MP Gulshat Asylbaeva on August 23, 2021.
