Cabinet of Ministers extends ban on export of car catalysts from Kyrgyzstan
Ban on the export of used car catalysts, as well as slag, ash and residues of precious metals contained in them, is extended for six more months in Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The decision on the ban comes into force on August 20.
The six-month ban was for the first time imposed in August 2021. The Cabinet of Ministers proposed to extend it from March 2022 in order to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
The authorities also noted that catalytic converters are usually removed from cars because they contain precious metals — salts of platinum, rhodium or palladium. Due to this, their cost can reach 13 percent of the price of the car.
