25,000 children on waiting list for kindergarten admission in Bishkek
At least 25,000 children are on the waiting list for kindergarten admission in Bishkek. Vice Mayor of the capital Victoria Mozgacheva told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, about 30 percent of children are covered by pre-school education in the capital, and not all kids are placed on the waiting list.
Some 25,000 children attend municipal kindergartens with a design capacity of 15,000.
«Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we did not admit children for a whole year. People are waiting for a place for a different period of time: for one year, for three years, depending on the groups. Some of the children are dropped out. It happens that the child is admitted, but becomes sick very often in kindergarten and is taken away, believing that it will be better for him to be at home. Some simply do not come. At this time, someone really needs a kindergarten,» Victoria Mozgacheva said.
She noted that some families have no one to leave their children with, so even in the summer, duty groups are formed during the repair of kindergartens.
