Torture of Vikram Ruzakhunov: Prosecutor General's Office invites him to Almaty
The Prosecutor General’s Office holds negotiations over the arrival of the Kyrgyz musician Vikram Ruzakhunov in Kazakhstan. Tengrinews.kz reports.
As the Prosecutor General’s Office said in response to an official request, since February 10, 2022, the department of the Anti-Corruption Service for Almaty region has been conducting a pre-trial investigation under article 146 (torture committed by a group of persons) against unidentified law enforcement officers of the region on the fact of torture against the Kyrgyz jazzman Vikram Ruzakhunov.
On February 19, the investigation recognized Ruzakhunov as a victim.
«Employees of the police department of the city of Almaty, Almaty region, Border Service of the National Security Committee and medical workers have been interrogated within the case, however, it is not possible to determine the circle of suspected persons for a number of reasons (there are no videos, registration logs of visitors and delivered persons, all the employees involved were wearing masks, including medical ones),» the Prosecutor General’s Office told reporters.
It became known that photographs of all employees involved in the aforementioned events with Ruzahunov were requested from the Regional Police Department.
«Ruzakhunov was repeatedly invited to the investigation body to conduct the necessary investigative actions with his participation. Negotiations are currently underway on his arrival with necessary security measures,» the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan added.
The pre-trial investigation continues and is under the control of the prosecutor’s office of Almaty region.
