Summit of Heads of Central Asian countries: Situation in Afghanistan to worsen
The situation in Afghanistan will worsen. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said at the 4th Consultative Meeting in Cholpon-Ata city.
According to him, contrary to their promises, the Taliban leadership is preventing the creation of an inclusive government.
«Some leaders of the movement are on the list of terrorists and terrorist organizations of the UN Security Council. The Taliban leadership is pursuing an aggressive policy of rigid religious conservatism. They have already announced the abolition of secular legislation and application of Sharia courts in all areas of civil society,» Emomali Rahmon said.
The first Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia was held in Nur-Sultan (2018), the second — in Tashkent (2019). In 2020, the summit was planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed for a year. Turkmenistan hosted the third meeting in August 2021.
