Kyrgyzstan completely switches to settlements in rubles with Russia
Kyrgyzstan and Russia have completely switched to settlements in rubles. The Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev told at a press conference.
«We have fully switched to settlements in rubles with Russia,» he said.
According to the official, earlier Kyrgyzstan paid to Russia in dollars only for fuel and lubricants, and for other types of products — in rubles. But due to the imposition of sanctions, including the disconnection from SWIFT system, there were problems with payments, so it was decided to switch to settlements in rubles.
Daniyar Amangeldiev added that in connection with the decisions made, the ruble began to strengthen, which in turn affected the cost of fuel.
The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia reported in the spring that the countries of the Eurasian Economic Commission, of which Kyrgyzstan is also a member, decided to step up work on reducing the share of the dollar in mutual settlements.
