Smuggled goods worth 3.4 million soms detained at border with Tajikistan
Border guards of Batken border detachment prevented an attempt to illegally transport cargo across the border. The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security reported.
Three vehicles with smuggled cargo were found in the western part of Zhany-Bak village, Batken region.
At least 20 tons of saltpeter and 10.5 tons of vegetable oil were found in a Scania truck driven by a citizen of Kyrgyzstan. About 3.5 tons of saltpeter and 3 tons of meat products were found in two other Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans also driven by citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
After drawing up the relevant documents, the detained citizens, vehicles and cargo were handed over to the employees of the competent authorities for further investigation.
