More than quarter of schools in Kyrgyzstan not provide students with hot meals
Hot meals are available in 1,735 or 74 percent of schools in Kyrgyzstan. Bakyt Rysbekov, Chief Specialist of the Department of School, Out-of-School and Additional Education of the Ministry of Education, announced at an orientation meeting on school meals.
According to him, 710 schools joined the program through the UN WFP, 510 — through Mercy Corps, 137 — as part of the support of donors and partners, and another 278 schools and boarding schools provide hot meals on their own.
«It is planned to cover 51 more schools under the UN WFP program this year and 410 more through Mercy Corps by 2026,» Bakyt Rysbekov told.
