«We have nothing to do with the death of Marat Kazakpaev. We provided him with all possibilities for treatment. We have never refused him,» Kamchybek Tashiev, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), said in an interview with journalist Leila Saralaeva.

He noted that the Prosecutor General’s Office launched an investigation into the death of Marat Kazakpaev, for which the supervisory authority was provided with all the necessary materials.

«At the same time, the SCNS is ready to receive a public commission, if it is created by the Ombudsman or the Center for Prevention of Torture, or public figures and journalists. We are ready, together with the prosecutor’s office conducting the inspection, to provide comprehensive information on this fact. We are by no means closed on the fact of the death of Marat Kazakpaev, and those politicians who want to use this death for their own mercenary, political purposes, such as Ravshan Jeenbekov, Zhyldyz Zholdosheva, they are deeply mistaken,» he said.

Earlier, the opposition made a statement, demanding from the president to take measures to hold the leadership of the State Committee for National Security and the Prosecutor General’s Office accountable, up to the dismissal of Kamchybek Tashiev, as well as thoroughly and objectively investigate the facts of opening a criminal case, investigative red taping and failure to provide timely medical assistance to Marat Kazakpaev.

Kamchybek Tashiev responded to the opponents of the authorities.

«I would like to advise them — you can’t play with the death of a person in this way. This is a tragic moment. I, as the head of the security services of our country, express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kazapaev, unfortunately, this happened, he is destined for such a fate. As for the legal side, we are ready to prove his guilt to the end, because the work has been carried out for the last three years,» the SCNS head noted.

In April 2021, the State Committee for National Security sent out information about detention of two citizens for treason. One of the detainees was a political scientist Marat Kazakpaev, the second was the former head of the Kazakh diaspora in Kyrgyzstan Marat Toktouchikov.

Marat Kazakpaev was taken to intensive care unit of the Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Bishkek. According to relatives, he fell into a coma. He died on June 10 without regaining consciousness.
