Kyrgyzstan intends to restore correspondent relations with German banks
Kyrgyzstan lacks correspondent relations with German banks. The Chairman of the Union of Banks of the Kyrgyz Republic Anvar Abdraev said at the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council.
According to him, German banks were among the first to come to Kyrgyzstan, but they were also the first to leave. He admitted that the reason for this may have been some mistakes and misunderstandings in the work.
«It happens, but this is not the issue that should be at the forefront of breaking correspondent relations. Today, Kyrgyz banks lack direct correspondent relations. Finances should be easily transferred from one bank to another, so I would like to voice this request once again. We now comply with all international standards, including to prevent money laundering,» he said.
In turn, the Regional Director for Central Asia of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations Eduard Kinsbruner said that they and other financial institutions in Germany were aware of the problem.
«If Karl Hugo Ernst Ehlerding, co-chairman of the Business Council, agrees, then we, for our part, will try to help and solve this problem,» he promised.
