First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Arzybek Kozhoshev took part in a meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which was held in Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan).

The official representative of the Kyrgyz Republic touched upon a wide range of issues of multilateral cooperation, stressing the need to take prompt measures to ensure uninterrupted supplies of agricultural and food products.

«It is important to create favorable conditions for cargo carriers by reducing various barriers and unreasonable checks at the borders to minimum. We stand for the liberalization of the service market and increasing the competitiveness of our goods and services in international markets,» Arzybek Kozhoshev said.

He paid special attention to the adoption of coordinated actions to regulate labor migration.

«The possibility of granting labor migrants the rights that are equal with the population of the host country in hiring and terminating employment contracts, as well as social and medical benefits should be considered,» the official explained.

The problem of long-haul truckers was recently discussed by the Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During an official visit to Bishkek, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the parties «also discussed the issues of improving cargo transportation. In recent years, a number of large-scale measures have been taken in this direction. In 2021, Kordai border checkpoint was modernized, and high-quality passenger service was provided. Agreements were reached on the modernization of other border checkpoints. The main task is to reduce the number of checks and eliminate traffic congestion at the border.»
