Kyrgyzstan calls on UN to support efforts on creation of green climate
Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN Aida Kasymalieva took part in the event on the occasion of the World Environment Day. She called on the members of the organization to support the efforts of Kyrgyzstan to promote the achievement of a green climate. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
According to her, climate change, destruction of ecosystems and environmental pollution have a strong impact on mountainous countries, including Kyrgyzstan.
Aida Kasymalieva told about a set of initiatives of the republic aimed at solving these problems. In particular, about the announcement by the UN General Assembly of 2022 as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, the intention to initiate a resolution on the announcement of «Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions», as well as further promotion by the Kyrgyz side of the idea of establishing a Mountain Countries Development Fund and development of a special UN program for conservation of mountain forests.
