Deputy proposes to ban sale and export of car catalysts
The main cause of pollution of the environment in Kyrgyzstan is motor transport. Deputy Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov said at a session of the Parliament.
According to his data, motor vehicles emit 400,000 tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere every year.
«The number of diseases of the respiratory tract and lungs is growing in Kyrgyzstan. The number of cancer cases is also growing. The reason is the environment, air pollution. Many people blame the thermal power plant for this. But the annual emissions from it and residential houses amount to 60,000 tons according to 2015-2020 statistics, 400,000 tons are emitted by motor vehicles,» the deputy said.
Nurzhiigit Kadyrbekov proposed to ban export of car catalysts from the country.
«Cars have no catalytic converters. People openly write that they buy catalysts. A kilogram costs 2,000-3,000 soms. Car washes and service stations steal catalytic converters, and cars are sold without them. We have to prohibit their sale and export,» he said.
