U.S. to deliver drones to Tajikistan
The U.S. will allocate more than $60 million to Tajikistan for security over the next two years. Ozodlik reports.
The U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan John Mark Pommersheim said at a press conference in Dushanbe on May 10 that the assistance would include $20 million worth Puma reconnaissance unmanned aircraft to control the country’s airspace in the border areas.
According to the ambassador, the U.S. does not intend to establish a military base on the territory of Tajikistan.
In addition, the United States will build a border checkpoint on the Tajik-Afghan border and a border outpost for 900 military personnel and their families on the border with Afghanistan.
