COVID-19: Kyrgyzstanis trust medical workers as source of information the most

Medical workers remain the most trusted source of information on COVID-19. A new joint study by the Ministry of Health and WHO says.

It is noted that 75 percent of respondents have confidence in the health sector. Since 2021, it has increased due to higher levels of trust in medical workers, the Ministry of Health, reports from government agencies, WHO and hotlines on COVID-19. The study found out that women tend to have higher overall levels of risk perception and practice protective behaviors more than men. At the same time, younger men (18-29 years old) tended to vaccinate more often than women at the same age.

«Overall, the level of negative intention in relation to vaccination has decreased, but 19 percent still say they definitely won’t get vaccinated,» the study notes.

«Vaccination in the country started late, and it was accompanied by a number of factors. But vaccines are available in Kyrgyzstan to date, we have seven types of them, and a person has the right to choose,» Nazira Artykova, representative of the WHO, said at the presentation of the study.

The study surveyed 1,200 people above 18.
