Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to the Great Britain Ulan Dzhusupov met with the Executive Director and Chief Counsel of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Sakhila Mirza. Press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The parties discussed the return of status of a «reliable supplier» (Good Delivery) to Kyrgyzstan. Ambassador Ulan Dzhusupov said that Kyrgyzaltyn takes all necessary measures and fulfills all requirements according to the LBMA norms and standards. He assured that from now on the Kyrgyz side would strictly follow the rules and implement the procedures within the required timeframe.

The Ambassador also reported on reaching an amicable agreement between the Kyrgyz government and Centerra Gold and settlement of disagreements on the management of Kumtor Gold Company. It was noted that the Kyrgyz side is ready for full compliance with its obligations under the agreement and looks forward to fulfilling the obligations by the Canadian company. Ulan Dzhusupov stressed that the harmonization and settlement of the parties’ claims on Kumtor will help restore confidence and interest of foreign investors to cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.

Sakhila Mirza expressed gratitude for close interaction with the LBMA and the efforts of the Kyrgyz side to resolve existing issues. She expressed hope that the Kyrgyz Republic would continue to make a significant contribution to increasing confidence in the Good Delivery list.

The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) has suspended Kyrgyzaltyn JSC from the LBMA Good Delivery List for failing to meet the requirements of the Responsible Sourcing Programme. It could have a negative impact on the activities of the refinery, the value of gold and the investment attractiveness of Kyrgyzstan.
