Coronavirus restrictions for tourists proposed to be lifted in Kyrgyzstan

«We propose to lift all coronavirus restrictions as they are irrelevant now,» Kiyal Kenzhematova, Director of the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, said at a briefing today.

According to her, the country’s land and air borders were closed in 2020 because of the pandemic. Then, the restrictions began to be lifted gradually. All foreigners were allowed into Kyrgyzstan by air in December 2021. Since the beginning of 2021, the list of countries whose citizens can enter Kyrgyzstan by land has been expanded to 67.

«Since the beginning of this year, we have been submitting proposals to the Ministry of Health to expand the list of countries, and now we have submitted them to the Cabinet. Any self-respecting tourist has already been vaccinated or even revaccinated. Kyrgyzstan unilaterally recognizes all vaccines. Therefore, we are going to include a clause on lifting or maximum simplification of the algorithms for COVID-19 in the plan for the summer tourist season. For example, to open land borders for citizens of 74 more countries where the epidemiological situation is more or less favorable,» Kiyal Kenzhematova told.
