Rally in support of Ukraine: Participants call for withdrawal from CSTO, EAEU
Participants of a rally in support of Ukraine in Bishkek urge to stop broadcasting of Russian state media in Kyrgyzstan.
Journalist Adil Turdukulov voices such demands. He also said that Kyrgyzstan should withdraw from the CSTO and the EAEU.
«In addition, all Russian military bases must be withdrawn from the country,» he said.
Rally in support of Ukraine is taking place in Gorky minipark. About 100 people participate in the rally. They hold banners, saying: «No war!», «Kyrgyzstan stands with Ukraine.» Police officers ensure safety and do not stop the protesters.
A rally in support of Russia was held in Gorky minipark on March 22. Participants welcomed Moscow’s actions in Ukraine. Announcement of the rally, which was sent out on social media, said that it was «a rally in support of Russia’s actions to eliminate fascism in Ukraine.» But the focus was changed at the event, saying that the rally was organized in support of the friendship between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.
Situation in Ukraine remains complicated. Fighting continues. Russia started a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow. Many states have imposed and continue to impose severe sanctions on Russia.
