An agreement on sale of medicines and medical products has been reached with Turkey. Press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to its data, the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev met with his Turkish colleague Fahrettin Koca during his working visit to the Republic of Turkey.

The parties discussed the supply of medicines and medical products to the Kyrgyz Republic as well as an increase in quotas for the treatment of seriously ill Kyrgyzstanis in the Turkish Republic.

«An agreement has been reached on the supply medicines and medical products to Kyrgyzstan by Turkey and that the Ministry of Health would take measures to simplify the procedure for import of medicines and medical products. This will help fill the market of medicines and medical products, which is experiencing difficulties in the light of the situation in Ukraine,» the ministry reported.

Earlier it became known that Kyrgyzstan would face disruptions in the supply of medicines, as the republic imports medicines and medical products from more than 30 countries. At the same time, the share of supplies from Russia and Ukraine is about 60 percent of all imports. However, Nurdin Kagazdiev, Director of the Department of Medicines and Medical Products, later presented different figures: 5 percent of all medicines imported into the country come from Ukraine and 16 percent — from the Russian Federation. He admitted that the price of medicines would rise as the dollar exchange rate grows.

The pharmaceutical companies said that due to the current situation between the two countries, all orders placed in Ukraine have been cancelled and the possibility of resuming supplies remains unknown. Due to sanctions, Russian manufacturers have also suspended shipments indefinitely due to the volatility of the ruble. Pharmacists proposed their own ways out of the situation, which were voiced at a meeting initiated by them at the Ministry of Health.

The Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev assured that there would be no problems with drugs in the country. According to him, the country has enough medicines for 2-3 months. The Ministry of Health is working on the possibility of supply of medicines from other countries: Turkey, India, and so on.
