Appreciation of dollar: National Bank conducts first intervention in March
Sharp growth of the dollar exchange rate forced the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan to enter the foreign exchange market with intervention.
It sold $55.35 million in total, including $26.80 million in cash.
In total, to support the rate of som, the National Bank conducted four interventions, having sold $225 million since the beginning of the year.
Appreciation of dollar began after the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. In a week, its exchange rate grew from 84.9 soms to almost 100 soms.
