Additional storage facility for COVID-19 vaccines to be built in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan will build an additional storage facility for COVID-19 vaccines in 2022. Ainura Akmatova, head of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health, told at a press conference.
«The Republican Centre for Immunoprophylaxis has a warehouse of 90 cubic meters. With the support of COVAX it is planned to build an additional one. At least $880,000 are provided for it. Сonstruction site has already been chosen and a tender will be announced in the nearest future,» she said.
The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has more than 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in stock to date.
Earlier it was reported that 3.4 million people have been identified as the target group to be vaccinated within the National Coronavirus Vaccination Plan. It does not include children under 18 years old and external labor migrants. However, in mid-November, the Ministry of Health decided to vaccinate 16-18- year-old adolescents, pregnant and lactating women.
