Russia ready to help Bishkek and Dushanbe in delimiting section of border
Russia is ready to share its experience in delimitation of border with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. TASS news agency reported, citing the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrey Rudenko.
The official cited the experience in the border delimitation between Russia and Kazakhstan as an example.
«The situation on Tajik-Kyrgyz border remains turbulent, which causes the most serious concern of Russia. We consistently stand for the resolution of all disputes that arise there exclusively by peaceful means: strict observance of the ceasefire agreements, withdrawal of forces and military equipment, and prevention of inciting ethnic hatred, including in the media,» the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia said.
Earlier, the Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Udovichenko noted that Russia was ready to assist Dushanbe and Bishkek in the delimitation and demarcation of a common section of the state border. In particular, according to him, Russia can assist Bishkek and Dushanbe in work with cartographic materials if the parties agree to involve Russian experts.
On January 27 at 6.15 p.m., the border guards of Tajikistan blocked a section of Batken — Isfana road in Tort-Kocho area of Batken region. The border units of Kyrgyzstan, deployed on this section of the border in Batken region, switched to an enhanced mode of service. The both sides exchanged fire. The Tajik military used mortars and grenade launchers.
At night, the parties agreed on a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of additional forces and equipment from the border, opening of Batken — Isfana road for traffic and joint patrolling of border areas in order to prevent conflicts.
