Ban on export of eggs, corn, rice, flour, sugar, oil extended until August 1
The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has come up with another initiative to extend the temporary ban on the export of certain products and the abolition of VAT on imported goods.
The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of June 23, 2021 set a temporary ban for a period of six months for export of certain agricultural products from the Kyrgyz Republic outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
It concerned crop products — wheat, barley, corn, rice, fodder, oats, as well as food and processing industry products — wheat flour, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, livestock products — chicken eggs.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the situation stabilized to a certain extent after the ban was imposed, but with the end of its term mass exports resumed. As a result, a decrease in agricultural products is predicted in the domestic food market and food prices will increase. Therefore, extension of the ban was initiated for another six months — from February 1 to August 1, 2022.
In addition, in order to avoid negative consequences for the domestic food market, an initiative was voiced to remove VAT on the import of certain types of agricultural products from February 1 until December 31, 2022. It primarily concerns meat.
