The Ambassador of Kazakhstan Rapil Zhoshybaev thanked Bishkek residents on behalf of the leadership of the republic for their assistance during the events in the neighboring state. Press service of the City Hall reported.

The Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Dzhunushaliev met with Rapil Zhoshybaev on Friday.

The head of the capital’s City Hall noted that Bishkek residents are very concerned about the fate of their fellow citizens who are currently in Kazakhstan, as well as the health of Cholponbek Sydykov, who was returned to his homeland by Kyrgyz diplomats. He added that the City Hall is always ready to assist in establishing and strengthening peace and stability, supporting the fraternal people.

Participants of the meeting also noted the activities of volunteers who supported the people of Kazakhstan. Caring citizens were presented with letters of gratitude from the capital’s City Hall and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. «Thank you for your support and help. More than 1,600 Kazakhstanis, due to tragic circumstances, were forced to return through Bishkek, and not only because it is geographically closer, but primarily because Kyrgyzstan is a fraternal country that lent its shoulder to Kazakhstan in difficult times,» Rapil Zhoshybaev emphasized.

Aibek Dzhunushaliev added that not everyone can set their work aside and come to the aid of those who need it. «Only truly kind and sympathetic people become volunteers. Thank you,» he said.

Mass protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2, 2022. Residents of Zhanaozen and Aktau in Mangistau region opposed the increase in prices for liquefied gas, then the protests spread to other regions. The situation is slowly stabilizing; the anti-terrorist operation continues. Internet access has been restored.

President of the republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev introduced a state of emergency in the republic, dismissed the government and became the head of the Security Council. At his request, the CSTO countries sent peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan. Scorpion special unit was sent to the republic from Kyrgyzstan.

The CSTO mission in Kazakhstan has been successfully completed.
