Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan orders to pay compensation to 3 victims of torture
The Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan supported three victims of torture, upholding the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek, according to which each of them will be paid 100,000 soms. Lawyers of Kylym Shamy Human Rights Center reported.
The court did not satisfy a motion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Economy and Finance on reducing the amount of compensation to 50,000 soms for each of the three, leaving the decision of the previous instance in force, and recovered moral damages in the amount of 300,000 in favor of the victims.
In December 2013, officers of Kyzyl-Kiya police department beat the suspects and used a stun gun in order to obtain confessions in the murder. The detainees were minors at that time. The victims of torture fought for their rights for seven years.⠀
