Russian military develop express method of testing for coronavirus
The Russian military developed an express method of testing for coronavirus. RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that the new method was invented by specialists of the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops. It is several times faster than traditional PCR tests and is not inferior to them in accuracy.
«Based on modern methods for specific indication of pathogens, a set of reagents has been developed for detecting RNA of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, using real-time loop isothermal amplification,» the news agency emphasizes with reference to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The military department noted that the kit includes a special substance that inactivates the virus in just a minute. This allows to start the study right away.
«The kit ensures detection of coronavirus in clinical samples within 30 minutes from the moment the material is taken, while in terms of its sensitivity and specificity it is not inferior to other medical products based on nucleic acid amplification methods,» the Defense Ministry added.
