Omicron: WHO predicts worsening of situation in two weeks
The World Health Organization is concerned about the spread rate of the new Omicron coronavirus strain: the number of new infections is increasing every 2-3 days. Foreign media report with reference to WHO representative David Nabarro.
«This means that the situation will be eight times more serious in a week and 40 times more serious in two weeks,» he said.
David Nabarro believes that even if the Omicron is less lethal, the sheer number of cases will still overwhelm the health care system in the UK and other countries. According to him, the situation could get worse in two weeks or less.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, reported that the health care system in the republic is 100 percent ready in case a new Omicron strain is detected.
