World Nomad Games included in UNESCO Intangible Heritage List
UNESCO considered inclusion of the World Nomad Games in the list of best practices of the institution for the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage.
The 16th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage is being held online at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris (France) from December 13 to December 18.
«World Nomad Games: Heritage Revival, Celebrating Cultural Diversity» is the first nomination presented by the Kyrgyz Republic in this list.
He thanked the UNESCO Committee for the recognition of the World Nomad Games and for adding them to the list.
«Adding of the World Nomad Games to the list of the institution gives a status and recognition to the country. Our next projects will be held under the auspices of UNESCO. This brings even more interest and prestige to the national game,» Askhat Akibaev, head and author of projects of the World Ethnogames Confederation, said.
In total, 59 nominations from all countries of the world are considered at this year’s committee meeting, including «Truffle hunting and extraction in Italy: knowledge and traditional practices», «Festival of flowers and fruits in the Netherlands», " Nora, Dance Drama in Southern Thailand" and other nominations.
The UNESCO list currently includes 601 elements of intangible cultural heritage from around the world, including «The Epic Trilogy: Manas. Semetei. Seitek »," Traditional craftsmanship for the manufacture of male headdress of the Kyrgyz ak-kalpak "and others.
