Koi-Tash events: Rally held near Pervomaisky District Court
Hearing of the case against the former president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev continues in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
Supporters of the imprisoned politicians Ravshan Dzheenbekov and Farid Niyazov staged a protest near the courthouse. They demand equality before the law.
«Citizens are not protected by law. Those people who are under the wing of the government or cooperate with them are protected. The judge once again proved that he listens only to the prosecutors. This has been going on for two years. The authorities ignore all our demands, there is no justice,» Irina Karamushkina said.
Several criminal cases were opened against Almazbek Atambayev, including on the riots in the village of Koi-Tash on August 7-8, 2019, corruption and money laundering. In the summer, he was charged with illegal issue of passports to Turkish citizens, as well as staging riots in October 2020.
