345 people sentenced to life in prison in Kyrgyzstan
At least 345 people were sentenced to life imprisonment in Kyrgyzstan. The State Penitentiary Service informed 24.kg news agency.
Seven of them are kept in a separate unit in the prison colony 31 and are treated for tuberculosis.
At least 10 children live with their mothers in the women’s prison colony in Stepnoe village.
According to the State Penitentiary Service, there are 10,959 convicts in Kyrgyzstan in total. The country takes the 90th place out of 223 countries of the world by the number of convicts. As for the Asia Index, Kyrgyzstan is the 23rd out of 31 countries in terms of the total prison population.
