Omurbek Babanov plans to return to Kyrgyzstan and big politics
Former presidential candidate Omurbek Babanov announced his intention to return home and to big politics. This became known after his meeting with deputies of the Parliament in Moscow.
Omurbek Babanov met with Maksat Sabirov, Ruslan Kazakbaev, Mirlan Jeenchoroev and Kenzhebek Bokoev the day before.
Kenzhebek Bokoev told reporters that Omurbek Babanov planned to return to Kyrgyzstan.
He noted that supporters of the former leader of Respublika party were in talks with the authorities.
In his opinion, the authorities are not against the return of Omurbek Babanov.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened two criminal cases against Omurbek Babanov. He is accused of public calls for violent change of the constitutional order and incitement of national, racial or religious hatred. It is about the speech of Omurbek Babanov during the election campaign at a meeting with residents of Amir-Timur microdistrict in Osh on September 28. He is also accused of attempt to forcibly seize power.
He left Kyrgyzstan after the presidential elections in 2017. He is in Moscow now.
